Mars Facts!

-----------------Mars Facts----------------------
Hi all, hope you enjoy my blog about Mars!.
To the Romans Mars was symbolic for blood and war but to people right now it might hold another world for humanity. Mars had started maybe 4.5 billion years ago when gas and dust swirled together to form the forth planet from the sun, Mars.Mars is the second smallest planet after Mercury with a diameter of Africa or 7,402km. Actually, The whole surface area is basically the continents joined together to make one.  Just like it's sister, Earth it has a rocky surface. In the centre has a core mainly made out of Iron, nickel and sulphur which have made a magnetic field to protect it from solar winds. It also has a mantle which contains silicate minerals and a crust rich in Iron which gives oxygen in it's atmosphere and that rusts to give it a reddish shade. While its appearance inspired to name it after the god of war but its colour might distinguish Mars early days. Right now, Mars is desolate, dry and cold that it can drop to -142 Celsius but 3.5 billions years ago it was warm, had geological life and had a watery surface. We can see the evidence of that from the river outline snaking through the surface of Mars. It has the largest volcano ever known in the solar system which has the the height of 3 Mt Everest combined together. It had erupted many billion of years ago. Maybe, when the dinosaurs had gone extinct the rivers of mars had gone too.  The water still lives on it but mainly on the ice caps at the north and south pole. Because of water scientists may think that their might have been microscopic animals living on it. Since 1960 many spacecrafts and rovers have been to Mars exploring. If for any hope Mars might hold the humanity on its planet!! Illustration of MercuryFrom https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/mars/overview/
